Authentic mid-20th-century vintage rocking horse, estimated to date from the 1940s–1960s, based on materials, construction, and period detailing. Most likely from an Australian workshop. The body is covered in real horsehair hide over a carved timber form, with original leather saddle, bridle, and reins.
The horse is mounted on solid timber rockers with a period bent steel stabilising frame, giving it a strong sculptural presence. The saddle retains its original painted finish with pronounced age patina, while wear to the hide and leather is consistent with age and use and contributes to its character.
This is an unbranded, workshop-made piece, typical of quality mid-century examples. Ideal as a statement decorative object for a child’s room, boutique retail display, or eclectic interior.
Decorative vintage item; not intended as a modern child’s toy.
