A striking vintage figural lamp featuring a Blackamoor figure in hand-painted detail, likely dating to the 1970s. The base is cast in plaster or resin with polychrome decoration – the figure holds a basket of fruit in one hand and supports the lamp column in the other. Topped with a fabric shade, the lamp stands an impressive 78cm tall.
This piece is in the Hollywood Regency style, drawing on the decorative revival of exotic motifs that were popular in the mid-20th century. It has a sculptural presence that makes it ideal as a statement lamp in a lounge, entryway, or eclectic interior.
Wiring appears to be more recent, with a standard bayonet fitting. Some age-related wear is visible to the painted surface, consistent with vintage use.
