Beautiful late-19th-century French marble figural clock garniture titled “Rencontre au Puits” (“Meeting at the Well”) by E. Groleau. The central clock features two detailed spelter figures beside a well, set on an ornate pink marble base with gilt bronze mounts. Included are the original matching side urns.
The clock houses an authentic French SCAPH Cluses round-plate movement (serial 8875), marked:
• SGO ÉTÉ Clusienne
• S.C.A.P.H. – Cluses
This is a genuine French pendule movement with a Brocot escapement and its original double-ended winding key.
The movement currently does not run and will require a standard service/cleaning by a clockmaker. Plates, escapement and strike components are intact. Cosmetically excellent for its age with beautiful patina to metalwork and vibrant marble.
A striking, highly decorative antique clock set — perfect for hallways, dining rooms, wine rooms and period interiors.
