A striking statement piece in the grand French manner. This lidded campana urn is hand-painted on a creamy crackle-glaze ground with lush bouquets of roses, peonies and cornflowers, framed by gilt-edged reserve panels and pink ribbon-and-swag borders with gold foliate highlights. The flared rim is finished with a moulded, pink-and-gilt leaf edge, echoed at the stem.
The porcelain is set in substantial cast metal mounts: twin scrolling acanthus-leaf handles, a laurel-wrapped collar and a heavy square plinth base with rosette frieze. The domed lid is topped with a pinecone finial on a cast leaf mount.
