An original early 20th-century Edwardian invalid wheelchair, featuring large spoked steel wheels, a hand-caned backrest, and adjustable timber seat with the original lever-and-wing-nut reclining mechanism. These chairs were used in hospitals and convalescent homes between 1900 and 1920, and examples with intact components are increasingly scarce.
This piece retains its full metal running gear, timber frame, and front castor wheel. The cane panel is in good condition, and the chair displays superb period character with its shaped crest rail and classic medical-furniture proportions. Ideal as a display piece, film prop, collector’s item or statement interior décor.
A distinctive example of early medical mobility design.
