This vintage hand-built model of a five-masted barque captures them in full sail. It carries four square-rigged masts stacked with billowing cotton sails and a fore-and-aft spanker aft, with jibs and staysails set forward. The effect is a ship running hard before the wind.

The hull is built plank-on-plank in richly figured hardwood, with pale contrasting stringers running bow to stern. The deck is inlaid in alternating dark and light strips. Brass portholes line the topsides, and gilt cast-metal scrollwork dresses the bow. The deck is furnished with deckhouses, upturned lifeboats, hatches and fine wire railings, and the model sits on its original twin-cradle stand.

This is a commanding statement piece for a study, boardroom, coastal home or maritime collection. Its configuration recalls famous five-masters such as France II, which traded between France, Australia and New Caledonia.

112cm x 79cm

Available at La La Vintage
67 Semaphore Road,
Semaphore SA 5019
(Next to Odeon Cinema)

Open 7 Days a Week
10am-4pm

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0571/9038/3670/files/25C4917B-AC3E-4C46-A4EB-F2085C1C319E.jpg?v=1792213384
https://lalavintage.com.au/products/vintage-five-masted-barque-tall-ship-model-large-hand-built-hardwood-display-model-with-cloth-sails-c-1970s-80s
